AHRMA Legends of Motocross National Vintage Motocross Series

The
American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) is a
member-owned nonprofit organization dedicated to the enhancement
of the sport of historic motorcycle racing. AHRMA conducts
amateur events from coast to coast.
Oscar Gaetan (16d) and Scott Mackenzie (833) battle for second
early in the first Vintage Over 40 Expert moto
at the AHRMA Legends of Motocross National Vintage
Motocross Series at the
Broome-Tioga Sports Center on June 27th in
Binghamton, New York.
The
event consisted of a vintage motocross school on Friday, vintage
motocross racing on a National caliber grass track that was
fast, had numerous off-camber sections and several rolling hills
on Saturday and on Sunday, Hurd Motorsports, hosted round nine
of the AHRMA Jakes Garage National Post-Vintage Motocross
Series.
Ron Wahl (3g) and Wayne Miller (10f) battle for third on the
opening lap of the first Classic 500 Expert/Intermediate
moto at round 10 of the AHRMA National Vintage Motocross Series
at the Broome-Tioga on June 27th.
When
the gate dropped for the opening moto of the combined gate of
Classic 500 Expert and Intermediate divisions, Jay Stuiso led
the pack followed by James Smith, Ron Wahl and Wayne Miller.
Stuiso started the second lap with a five second advantage over
Smith in second. Wahl and Miller came off the back section of
the racecourse and into the final “S” turns of the course
battling for third. Stuiso continued to extend his lead,
starting lap three with a nine second advantage. Miller came
around to start lap three in third. Wahl was displaced to
fourth. The gap separating Smith in second and Miller in third
continued to increase and was 18-seconds at the start of the
third lap. Stuiso took the checkers with a 13-second lead.
Smith, Miller and Wahl followed.
James Smith (4d) and Jay Stuiso (18e) battle for the lead in the
final Classic 500 Expert/Intermediate moto at
round 10 of the AHRMA National Vintage Motocross Series at the
Broome-Tioga on June 27th.
Smith,
Miller, Wahl and Stuiso led the start of the final moto of the
combined gate of Classic 500 Expert and Intermediate classes.
Smith started lap two with a 14-second lead. Miller held second
and was trailed by Stuiso in third, who was quickly coming
through the pack after a poor start. Wahl was a solid fourth.
Smith started lap three with a 12-second lead. Stuiso was
slowing closing the gap on Smith after making the pass on
Miller, taking second. Smith continued to hold the point at the
start of lap four but Stuiso was closing and had reduced his
advantage to seven seconds. Smith came of the back section of
the racecourse still out front with Stuiso trailing by only four
seconds. Stuiso continued to reel Smith in and made the pass for
the lead in the final corner of lap five to take the win by a
bike length. Smith, Miller and Wahl followed.
Dave Smeal leads the final Vintage
Over 40 Expert moto at round 10 of the AHRMA National
Vintage
Motocross Series at the Broome-Tioga in Binghamton, New York on
June 27th.
Dave
Smeal, Oscar Gaetan, Scott Mackenzie, Ken Gilmore and Ron Harten
led the start of the opening Vintage Over 40 Expert moto. Smeal
continued to hold the point at the start of the second lap and
the top five remained unchanged. Gaetan and Mackenzie were
battling for second at the start of lap three, just behind Smeal.
Gilmore and Harten rounded out the top five. The top five
remained unchanged for the next two laps. Smeal and Gilmore
started the final lap battling for the point position and the
battle continued for the entire lap until Gilmore went down in
the second to last corner, assuring Smeal the victory. Gilmore
remounted quickly to secure second. Gaetan, Mackenzie and Harten
closed out the top five.
Smeal,
Gilmore, Harten, Stephen Clare and Gaetan led the start of the
final Vintage Over 40 Expert moto. Smeal set a blistering pace
and started lap three with a nine second lead that he increased
to 13 at the white flag. Smeal got another win and made it look
easy. Gilmore, Harten, Clare and Gaetan completed the top five.
Smeal
(1-1) topped the podium. Gilmore (2-2) took second and Harten
(5-3) third.
