AHRMA Johnny’s Signs National Post-Vintage Motocross Series
Round 11: Broome-Tioga Sports Center

BINGHAMTON, NY, AUGUST 29, 2010
On the last day of the AHRMA Vintage National at Broome-Tioga, the racing took place on the former AMA Motocross Championship Series full National racecourse. Hurd Motorsports, promoters of this world class facility, provided a track groomed to perfection for the post vintage motocross machines that inspired the "long travel" revolution that transformed motocross into the sport it is today.
When the gate dropped for start of the opening moto of the combined gate
of Grand Prix 250 Expert, Post Vintage Open Age, Post Vintage Over 50
Intermediate and Expert, Post Vintage Over 60 Intermediate and Expert
and Over 70 Expert, Stan Talago, Karl Poindexter, Raymond Charneski and
Joseph Kelly led the pack down out of the switch-back first turn. Talago
continued to hold the point position when the leaders descended the National
Hill at the half lap mark. Andy Mikolaichik was now running second after
coming through the pack after a poor start. Dave Smeal, Andrew Glenn and
Poindexter rounded out the top five.
Charneski, Scott Mitchell, Dave Farnum, Mark Fairfull and Dave Webb rounded
out the top ten.
Talago and Mikolaichik battled for the lead at the start of lap two and the two battled through the front rhythm section and up onto the National Hill. Mikolaichik descended the Hill at the point with Talago just a few bike lengths behind. Talago made an aggressive block pass and the base of the Hill and re-took the lead. Mikolaichik came back and re-took the lead for good on the downhill ski jump and immediately began to pull away. Talago was relegated to second. Mikolaichik started lap three with an eight second lead that increased to 12-seconds at the checkered flag. Talago, Smeal, Glenn and Poindexter closed out the top five. Farnum, Fairfull, George Nebeling, Kelly and Angel Betancourt completed the top ten.
Glenn, Talago, Mikolaichik, Poindexter and Ray Charneski led the start of the final moto. When the leaders appeared at the top of the National Hill, a half lap in, Glenn continued to hold the point but was being pressured by Mikolaichik in second. Poindexter, Smeal and Farnum followed. Fairfull, Charneski, Talago, Kelly and Mitchell rounded out the top ten.
Mikolaichik took the lead on lap two with Talago trailing in second. Glenn was displaced to third. Mikolaichik started lap three four seconds ahead of Talago and increased his advantage to ten seconds on lap four and 16-seconds at the checkers. Talago, Glenn, Farnum and Poindexter completed the top five. Charneski, Fairfull, Mitchell, Kelly and Luke Loy completed the top ten.
Andy Peebles, Billy Burns, and Dave Boast let the start of the first moto of the combined gates of Grand Prix 250 Intermediate, GP 500 Intermediate, Post Vintage Over 40 Expert/Novice and Over 50 Novice divisions. Peebles continued to lead that pack at the base of the National Hill after a half lap. Boast, Betancourt, Nebeling and Perry Sconzert rounded out the top five. Peebles and Boast continued to run one and two on lap two when Nebeling and Sconzert moved up to third and fourth, displacing Betancourt to fifth. Peebles took the win followed by Boast, Nebeling, Sconzert and Betancourt.
Peebles and Burns led the start of the final moto. Burns took the lead
on the Hill about a half lap in. Peebles was displaced to second. Boast,
Sconzert and Nebeling followed. Burns pulled away and started lap two
with a seven second advantage that became 14 at the start of lap three
and 18 at the white flag and 21-seconds at the checkers. Peebles, Boast,
Nebeling and Betancourt closed out the top five.
