Mitch Dougherty captured the top tier of the super competitive Open Pro/Expert podium by losing a couple of battles but eventually winning the war. Dougherty’s 3-2 performance was good enough to secure the overall. Dougherty battled with eventual first moto winner, Josh Emmi, in the opening moto from the start until lap two when he lost the front and went down. Dougherty re-mounted fourth and managed to come back to third by the finish.

Dougherty took the holeshot and the early lead in the final moto just ahead of Matt Eastman. Eastman stalked Dougherty for the first lap and half and made the pass to secure the lead on lap two. Eastman set the pace and eventually gapped Dougherty by six seconds at the checkers. Jay Weller’s consistent 2-4 rides netted him the runner-up of the rostrum and Eastman’s sixth place in moto one combined with his win in moto two was enough to secure the final spot of the podium.

Emmi, Dougherty, Weller, Shawn Robinson and Ryan Zaveral led the start of the first Open Pro/Expert moto. Emmi and Dougherty immediately began to battle for the lead and only a second separated the two at the start of lap two. Weller was three seconds behind Dougherty. Eastman diced his way to fourth, relegating Zaveral to fifth.

Eastman set a good pace and caught and passed Weller taking third shortly after the start of lap three. Weller was displaced to fourth. Matt Babbitt was now fifth. About halfway into lap three, Dougherty went down and Eastman inherited second and Weller third. Dougherty remounted fourth. Babbitt held fifth. Then Eastman went down two corners shy of the start of lap four. Weller, Dougherty and Babbitt advanced. Eastman re-mounted fifth. Emmi took the win with a three second advantage. Weller, Dougherty, Babbitt and Jeremy Medaglia completed the top five.

Dougherty, Eastman, Babbitt, Weller and Medaglia led the pack off the start in the final Open Pro/Expert moto. Dougherty and Eastman battled for the lead until lap two when Eastman made the pass in the back section of the racecourse. Dougherty was relegated to second. Eastman quickly gapped Dougherty by three seconds and increased his advantage to six seconds at the checkered flag. Babbitt, Weller and Robinson followed.

Daniel Netti, Schae Thomas, Mike Maresca, Alex Stone and Luke Kochon led the start of the first Open Mini moto. Netti, clearly in a class of his own, had a six second lead advantage over Thomas after less than a quarter of a lap. Maresca trailed Thomas by six seconds. Netti lost the front end in the deep sand in the fifth turn of lap two but still managed to re-mount with the lead. Netti quickly pulled away from Thomas again and started the last lap with a six second lead that increased to eight at the checkered flag. Thomas, Zach Putman, Maresca and Stone closed out the top five.

Putman, Netti, Stone, Maresca and Nick Kraeger led the start of the final Open Mini moto. Putman put up a good fight and managed to hold Netti off until the end of lap one when Netti made the pass for the lead. Putman was displaced to second. Netti had a two second lead at the start of lap two. Colton Camp moved up from sixth to third by lap two and trailed Putman by 11 seconds. Netti started the white flag lap with a five second lead and took the checkers three seconds ahead of Putman. Camp, Stone and Kochon completed the top five.

Netti topped the podium with a perfect 1-1. Putman (3-2) took second and Stone (5-4) third.
